Madam C.J. Walker Awards

The Madam C.J. Walker Awards honor and amplify women of color who mobilize resources and shift power in philanthropy and justice movements. Inspired by Walker’s legacy, the Awards are F3’s way of redistributing visibility and influence to leaders building durable, equitable change in Black and Brown communities.

Birgit S. Smith R.I.S.E Fund Scholarship

Each fall, F3 awards a $2,000 leadership investment to one member through the Birgit S. Smith R.I.S.E. Fund Scholarship, honoring Birgit Smith Burton’s legacy of excellence, advocacy, and advancement in philanthropy.

This fund supports members pursuing credentials such as the CAP or CFRE, attending transformative conferences, or engaging in high-impact fundraising training, all with the goal of strengthening leadership, expanding influence, and advancing governance pathways for women of color in philanthropy.

More than professional development, the R.I.S.E. Fund is an investment in leadership power and movement durability.
